Two years ago, Kasson Crooker (Symbion Project) joined Chris Child (Kodomo) for a week at Child’s Brooklyn studio, collaborating on what would become DISPAK 1, an EP of electronic music more rooted in techno than anything they’d done before. Crooker hosted for round 2, moving the sessions to his studio in Seattle, where they had access to vintage synthesizers like a 1969 Moog Modular, giving them new ideas and possibilities.
”Zeldinova” is our first glimpse of the fruits of their labors, a muscle-bound anthem of pulsing beats and urgent arpeggios. It would fit in perfectly on a dance floor, or coming through your car speakers during a late night drive.
DISPAK 2 is out February 20 on Brooklyn label FOIL.
