Georgia-based producer Tristan McNeil started his Nude With Lyre alias while soundtracking a friend’s film about their desolate small town. The film never saw completion, but a new genre, “dirty south drone” was born, the term McNeil uses for the ominous, not quite beatless soundscapes of his forthcoming debut, Blood. “Pleasure” is one of the record’s brighter moments, and while it sounds downright heavenly, it still retains an edge of muddled uncertainty.
