Ukraine’s Lubomyr Melnyk has been recording music for decades, slowly developing an offshoot of minimalism he calls “continuous music,” which has allowed him to become the world’s fastest pianist, capable of playing around 20 notes per second. Sure enough, on Melnyk’s latest album, Rivers and Streams, fluidity is the defining characteristic, each joyous note melting into the next like water jostling over a shallow creekbed .
